Cosmetic Porcelain Bridges
A dental bridge is a device that fills the space created when a tooth or teeth have been extracted. The replacement tooth is connected by dental crowns that are bonded on the supporting adjacent teeth. A bridge may also be supported with the placement of a dental implant. With the latest materials and technology, Dr. Moreau, in most situations, is able to design all porcelain bridge, thereby eliminating unsightly metal that is often associated with porcelain fused to metal crowns and bridges. When placed in the mouth all porcelain bridges create a most aesthetically pleasing look and feel to the tongue, lips and gums.
Missing Teeth Options
In order to safeguard the integrity of teeth, gums, bone and a vibrant smile, the replacement of missing teeth is most important. The loss of teeth can lead to teeth shifting which leads to increased risk for further tooth fracture, as well as gum, bite or jaw problems. Depending on the situation there can be a number of options available to replace missing teeth which include dental bridge, dental implants or partial dentures. A consultation with Dr. Moreau will provide you with the necessary information upon which you can decide what option would work best for you.
Dental Bridge vs Implant
There are a number of considerations that have to be reviewed before deciding upon whether a dental implant or bridge is the treatment of choice to replace missing teeth. Not every missing tooth situation is a candidate for an implant. The dental implant has to have adequate space and bone support for it to be successful and not every missing tooth situation is a candidate for an implant. The adjacent teeth may be in need of dental crowns so it might be more beneficial to place a bridge than an implant. The investment of a dental implant is higher initially than a dental bridge, but it is less likely to require future work.
